Winners and Losers: They continue to win and we continue to lose

Due the total and utter failure of their politicians to fulfill any of their campaign promises in the past and their failure to insure a decent existence for all Americans, half of the people of the U.S. decided that they had nothing to loose and literally elected a clown to be their president. The “President” that the people elected was an amoral, narcissistic, nouveaux riche, sleazebag, with no experience in politics, no track record of having done a single decent thing for anyone in his life, a long track record of cheating on his spouses, of failed business ventures and of being an embarrassingly pompous and self-aggrandizing person whose only talent was building gaudy golf clubs and acquiring real-estate. But he “told it like it is” to simple people with nothing to loose and became the 45th president of the U.S.

Due the total and utter failure of their politicians to fulfill any of their campaign promises in the past and their failure to insure a decent existence for all Americans, the other half people of the U.S. tried to elect Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, a wild haired, disgruntled, idealist who has previously been an Independent for his entire political career. Sander’s campaign promises included student loan debt forgiveness, universal healthcare for all, free college, and a federal living wage among other radical reforms. Since a presidential campaign is a much more expensive undertaking than reelection in Vermont (which has only 600,000 residents), Sanders decided to register as a Democrat and run against Hillary Clinton in the primaries for the Democratic nomination. Since Clinton was so well-connected, meaning of course that she could raise much more money for the Democratic party than Sanders ever could, Clinton was able to co-opt the Democratic National Convention (DNC) and thus the Democratic party to work in her favor to the detriment of Sanders in the primaries. This was despite the fact that every credible pundit and poll predicted that Sanders and not Clinton could beat the Clown in a race for the presidency. The Democratic Party instead buried their head in the sand and decided that their long-term ability to raise money for campaigns was more important than listening to the cries of the electorate to elect someone whose ideas were radical and reformist and thus win the 2016 presidential election. This was not a conspiracy theory. It actually came to light in the media that the DNC chairwoman colluded with others and actively undermined Sander’s primary race in favor of Clinton’s.

Instead of crying foul and taking his considerable majority of the Democratic electorate to an Independent ticket, Sanders kneeled down to the powers that be, under the auspices of the importance of defeating the Clown, and supported Clinton’s campaign. Sanders thought that he had no other alternative on the co-opted and uneven playing field. Sanders also thought he might take another run in 2020 and would need Democratic dollars so he didn’t dare cross the party. Clinton won the popular vote but lost Electoral College votes in critical blue-collar states that had previously been Democratic strongholds. After the election many people who voted for the Clown stated that they would have voted for Sanders if he had been on the ticket instead of Clinton. These people stated that they would rather have an unpredictable person with no track record in public office as president than a blatantly untrustworthy career politician.

Due the total and utter failure of their politicians to fulfill any of their campaign promises in the past and their failure to insure a decent existence for all Americans, the U.S. got a petulant, unpredictable clown to be their president. The country and the people had undergone a profound change and they were ready for profound changes. The people were willing to try anything to end the status quo. The people were taking the first steps to radically reform their government and take control of shaping their futures.
